Why bodywork?
Do you often feel pain in your body from an inflicting outer or inner source? A solution to freeing yourself from pain is understanding the way both your mind and body works. Bodywork encourages individuals to form this relationship and understanding with themselves. Building a relationship with your own body empowers you to understand what your body needs to live your life with greater ease.
Bodywork is alternative medicine.
The umbrella of bodywork encompasses any modality that provides physical and mental relaxation, healing and relief including, but not limited to: massage therapy, Thai yoga massage, meditation, Reiki, occupational therapy, acupuncture, and polarity. Your body is your vehicle for your precious lifetime and it is important to honor and respect it through practices that provide care mentally, physically and emotionally. Bodywork helps connect your mind and your spirit to your vehicle.
Your body is unique and your body is beautiful.
Finding a bodyworker for your holistic care and healing journey is a wonderful component to your life. It helps build trust, appreciation and empowerment with your body and it is a natural form of preventative care. You will discover the unique qualities of your own body and begin unlocking how pain in your body is related. Those that receive regular bodywork form a beautiful and intimate relationship with their body. A bodywork session eases you into a meditative state, giving yourself space and time to surrender to the pause.
Consult with your health care provider if you believe that a form of bodywork may be right for you.

A simple, yet transformational tool, to connect to your body is through meditation. This is bodywork in its purest form by calming your mind and connecting to your breath. Sometimes the cause of your pain is a mental affliction. Meditation will help shift your perspective on the way your mind relates and reacts to your bodies aches and pains.
Meditating by Tara Rook
Ralph Waldo Emerson said that “the ancestor to every action is a thought”. Uncontrolled actions often cause unnecessary physical and mental agitation. Through meditation and mindful awareness, you will better control your thoughts and your thought patterns, thus controlling your actions. Meditation allows for patience and tolerance in uneasy situations and creates a positive habit for relaxation.
The benefits of meditation are seen through a consistent and daily practice. The only way to find out is to try it for yourself.
Be patient, gentle, and kind to yourself as you incorporate daily meditation, perseverance is key here.

Tara Rook is a devoted meditation practitioner. She grew up with parents immersed in Shambhala Buddhism, a tradition stemming from Tibetan Buddhist philosophies and practices. She spent her weekends and summers at meditation retreat centers in Vermont and Nova Scotia, diving into the practices herself at a young age. One of her first memories is sitting in her mothers lap in a meditation hall. She currently practices daily meditation through seated meditation and yoga. Tara is available to answer any questions about meditation and to give further guidance, advice, and encouragement. Please email her at hello@tararook.com.
